About
Born In Toronto, raised in Northern Ontario, Dave currently resides in his east coast studio in Nova Scotia.
Dave’s teenage years were spent guiding on ancient voyageur canoe routes on the Mattawa/Ottawa river system which seeded a deep connection with Canada’s natural beauty. This bond translated into towering monumental landscapes powerful portraiture and commanding visual presentations created through his own unique process.
Formal art education in Cambrian College in Sudbury and extended to Georgian College in Barrie which became the home base for over 30 years, exploring the many aspects of art, design and exciting marketing projects.
Dave's latest collections showcase stunning Canadian landscapes. Drawing from years of silk screening, these visions break apart the power of Canadian landscapes and reforms them structurally into base elements. With a focus on Canadian Red, the compositions seem immense. While the shapes and forms collect like a tapestry creating the illusion of realism, the imagery harmonizes in a rhythmic contemporary abstract form.
Along with his wife Wendy, Dave owned and operated a marketing agency that gave him the opportunity to infuse his designs into hundreds, if not thousands of projects over 25 years. Memorable work often involved merging modern design with historical context, balancing innovation with respect for tradition.
Having designed over 50 magazine covers, Daves body of work has struck a balance between noteworthy commissioned work and stunning original art.
Shown in prestigious locations like Ottawa’s Parliament buildings, Toronto’s Queens Park, Hockey Hall of Fame, museums and galleries. His work includes commissions from the Canadian Military, Fortune 500 companies and national non-profit organizations.
If his career were a brushstroke it would be described as “extensive”.
